canadian soldier standing guard outside of the war memorial outside of ottawa, and earlier there was a shooting inside of canada's government. kenneth moton will have more on the response from law enforcement in our area, but we begin with alicia vitarelli live in the satellite center right now. >> reporter: just a short while ago, officials in ottawa wrapped up a news conference, giving few details, the investigation is still very much active and underway, they are asking people in ottawa to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. as they piece together this day of sadness and chaos in the capital. >> a canadian soldier shot while standing guard at the war memorial in the capital city. paramedics took the soldier away in an ambulance and he later

died. >> to have this happen under these circumstances beyond expression. >> this dramatic video captures the barrage of gun fire that ensues in this parliament buildings. they kill aid soldier and witnesses say that at least 30 shots were heard. >> was taking off my jacket to go into caucus and i heard pop pop pop and i thought it was construction if anything else. >> most of the downtown ottawa was put on lockdown, ottawa law enforcement officials offered few details, saying that the investigation was ongoing. >> there is a dynamic and ongoing situation, i understand that people have many questions

and we will provide answers as soon as we are able. >> this comes two days after a recent convert to islam killed one man and injured another before being gunned down by police. >> this is a terrible act of violence against a country, against our military. >> now, police will not release the identity of the deceased soldier until they talk to his family, and they did not give details about a possible motive and would not answer questions specifically about whether or not they are looking for any other suspects. very chaotic and sad day there in ottawa. >> thank you alicia. news of the shooting has law enforcement in north america on high alert. but right now there is no specific threat against anyone else. >> kenneth moton continues our coverage from independence mall where officers are keeping watch as always. >> shirleen we checked in with

homeland security and the national park service and no additional security for our landmarks or the canadian consulate. but for tourists down here today, there are thoughts and prayers for our neighbors to the north. as word of the fear and uncertainty came down. >> they have plenty of security at their capital, and for this to happen in a country so close to us, you have to be concerned. >> you don't associate it with the canadians. >> at independence mall, we talked to canadian tourists they wanted to know about the attack on parliament hill. >> is it a mad man or some group. >> he says like any first world nation, security at the capital is strict. >> if you get too close on the buildings they pull you away. >> if you are somewhere where you are not suppose to be.

is caught up more than most. >> he is an eric frein look-alike but lets report that things are quiet around here after yesterday's flurry of activity. police are concentrating their searches in four townships include pocono township, that is where we are right now. so far today there are no new sightings. >> search teams converged here yesterday after a local police officer allegedly spotted eric frein from the post office across the street from frein's old high school. the pocono mountain school district canceled classes yesterday but the kids were back on the buses today. they spent the day crisscrossing four townships on a 25 mile grid. we are six weeks into the manhunt after he shot and killed

three teenage girls from denver were stopped in germany after sources say they were trying to join the ranks of ice is, the father of one girl reported them missing after finding out they skipped school and then that their passports were missing along with $2,000 worth of cash. they were stopped at the airport in frankfurt, germany and they said they had plans to cross the border into syria. the man that police say confessed to killing seven women in indiana had his first

appearance in court today. his hearing was just as bizarre as the rest of the case. >> when the judge asked if he would tell the truth, and he did not respond. they had to ultimately postpone the hearing, he admitted to killing a 19-year-old woman last week and then led police to the bodies of six other victims. the stocks seem to be on a seesaw, the dow dropped 184 points and the nasdaq off 37 and the s&p 15 points. warren buffet lost $2 billion in just two days this week. his company, has huge stakes in both coke and ibm, he lost a

on air and online at 6abc.com. turning now to the latest on the ebola outbreak, we learn that pennsylvania and new jersey are among six states impacted by strict new cdc rules, anyone coming from liberia, sierra leone, or new guinea must undergo 21 days of monitoring. meanwhile new jersey governor, chris christie, has organized a task force to make sure all garden state residents are protected. this comes on the heels of a scare in newark overnight. that is where we find nora muchanic live with the details. >> reporter: shirleen, this is university hospital where a man who was showing ebola symptoms yesterday was brought and put into isolation.

the official autopsy performed on michael brown appears to support the police officer's story who killed him. the report reveals that the 18-year-old was shot in the hand at close range, experts say that could mean that the unarmed teenager did not have his hands up at the time of the deadly shooting and may back officer darren wilson's claim that brown reached for his gun during the struggle and the family says they do not trust the alleged findings. a teachner oregon is on paid leave and under investigation following a confrontation with a student caught on camera, this is the video showing the teacher grabbing sara rue and then pulling her shirt off as she is pulled to the floor.

all right, meteorologist, adam joseph has accuweather. >> the ground is so damp and the chilly wind as well. not the best of days as we take a look at double scan live radar, the moisture is pinwheeling in from the north and east and the batch of steady showers passing through wilmington, as we head south through wilmington, anywhere from southern new jersey from salem, we are drying out from the steadier showers, bay side to smyrna, they are getting whacked by a pop of heavier rain, no thunder or lightning, that continues to press to the south and behind it some scattered showers and at times patchy drizzle. temperature in allentown 57 degrees, 53 in trenton and 54 in millville and 55 in dover and also 55 in wilmington. satellite and radar shows a spin just to our south and east, that

the latest. >> reporter: monica and rick the president has been briefed on the shootings as ottawa is just north and west of the canadien u.s. border. it erupted just before 10:00 a.m. and they call it a fluid sitdation and we know that members of parliament had to go hiding for cover when the gun fire erupted. in downtown ottawa, two separate shooting incidents led to widespread panic. it captured the scene inside of the parliament building, police officers firing shots at the armed man that burst in. at least 30 shots were heard and members of parliament were holding their weekly caucus meeting. >> thought it was construction, and the security comes down and i rushed to the back of the parliament building. >> a soldier
